Mission Statement 2 We are Austria’s largest organisation of experts on all environmental issues. As an independent partner, we are working to build bridges between the economy, science and politics at national and international level. With more than 450 experts in 55 academic disciplines we are a leading provider of environmental solutions.

History – the Umweltbundesamt was founded, as outlined in the Environmental Control Act 1998 – New Environmental Control Act Core tasks redefined 1999 – the Umweltbundesamt becomes a Limited Liability Company 100% owned by the Republic of Austria (represented by the Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, Environment and Water Management)

ENPI-SEIS Project Main outcomes: Enhanced networking and improved capacities for handling environmental data and information, ensuring open access to it through compatible and freely available exchange tools. Coverage: 15 ENP partner countries (6 in the East, 9 in the South region) Project duration: January 2010 – March 2015 Budget: €5.7 M Support to EU policies: external policy framework (ENP, UfM, EaP), thematic policies (MSFD, WFD, ICZMS), horizontal policies (SEIS, Inspire, GMES)
