Emerging Needs As budgets have improved, local senates are required to participate more and more such as… Common Assessment Initiative (CAI) Online Education Initiative (OEI) Educational Planning Initiative (EPI) Institutional Effectiveness Partnership Initiative (IEPI) Student Equity Plans SSSP Plans Revised Accreditation Standards Taskforce on Workforce, Jobs, and a Strong Economy Fall Plenary Session November 5 - 7, 2015 Irvine, CA4

Assisting Local Needs How does the ASCCC currently respond when new issues arise? How many events can individuals physically attend? What happens if someone cannot attend—how does he/she receive the information? Fall Plenary Session November 5 - 7, 2015 Irvine, CA5

Local Senate Needs What are we doing right in professional development? Where do we need to improve? What are some local senate needs currently not met? What are some local faculty needs currently not met? Fall Plenary Session November 5 - 7, 2015 Irvine, CA6

Alternative Forms of Professional Development In addition to time, there are often costs associated with professional development events that make it challenging for some to attend Are there other ways that we could offer professional development for lower/no costs? Possible options: Webinars with breakout rooms Video Conferencing using Zoom (cccconfernow.org) Recorded ASCCC Presentations YouTube Videos Audio Podcasts Others? As alternative professional development venues are considered, it is important that anything ASCCC offers is ADA compliant! Fall Plenary Session November 5 - 7, 2015 Irvine, CA7

Professional Development College (PDC) Modules The Executive Committee is already looking at many additional modules for the PDC. These include Basics of Academic Senates Inmate Education Creating an Inclusive Atmosphere through Better Communication Minimum Qualification and Equivalency Part Time Faculty Orientation Hiring Diverse Faculty What modules would you like to see in the PDC? Fall Plenary Session November 5 - 7, 2015 Irvine, CA8

Summary The ASCCC hopes to make all of its PD offerings the best faculty development available. ASCCC is exploring new ways to offer PD that are more flexible and cost less The Professional Development College will be adding new modules each year that anyone can access at any time As workloads continue to increase, it is important that we offer PD in a way that doesn’t increase burnout.
