Finance for retrofit Energy supplier obligation: carbon/energy cost targets Feed in Tariff for micro-generation grid connected and accredited installations only payments for all you generate (regardless of use) guaranteed for extended period (25 years for first tranche) Renewable Heat Incentive: payments per kWh domestic to start in April 2014, non-dom started 2011

Finance for retrofit Loans – Green Deal: Government controlled scheme, strict rule and regulations loans for up to 25 years Mainly commercial finance loan amount limited: repayments no more than savings Repayments through electricity bill Loans – local fund: up to 5 years low interest, backed by guarantee fund only social finance so far: LA and charity

Schools and careers Young Energy People Energy as a theme for work related learning Pupil energy management teams: apply for jobs on the team: written application and interview do own technical energy survey of school design & run awareness/behaviour campaign work experience with local employer, advising on energy saving Results in 29 schools: 12% energy savings
