Welcome to Tapco HomeDry. London, Surrey and the Home Counties premier damp proofing, damp control, water damage restoration, dry rot and woodworm Treatment Company. Providing successful guaranteed solutions for damp since 1971 The most common and damaging problem found in a building is damp. Tapco HomeDry has been ‘providing solutions for damp’ since 1971 and are London, Surrey and the Home Counties premier damp proofing company. All remedial work is covered by our long term guaranteed which can be protected by Guarantee Protection Insurance (GPI) The four most common causes of damp are:-  Rising damp caused by the breakdown or non existence of a damp proof course  Lateral penetrating damp caused by the external ground level being above the floor level  Rain penetration caused by building faults such as leaking rain water goods or defective roofs and rendering.  Condensation caused by high humidity, especially during colder weather Whatever the cause it is important that the damp problem is correctly diagnosed and treated immediately before it causes costly damage to decorations, wall plaster and furniture and wood rotting fungi (including dry rot) that can affect your families health. Tapco HomeDry has been established for 42 years and our qualified damp proofing and timber surveyors, who have many years of experience diagnosing damp in buildings, will carry out a thorough survey and diagnose the cause of the problem in our detailed report. You can be assured that our fully trained damp proofing operatives have many years experience at working in occupied property and are fully aware of your needs whilst carrying out the work. Welcome to Tapco HomeDry. London, Surrey and the Home Counties premier damp proofing, damp control, water damage restoration, dry rot and woodworm Treatment Company. Providing successful guaranteed solutions for damp since 1971 Dry rot is the most destructive and serious problem to affect your property. True dry rot is a major building decay fungus and is one of the most insidious and destructive problems your property can have. It often causes extensive and very costly damage as it spreads from area to area looking for its food source, timber. Dry rot mycelium is able to grow through bricks and mortar, carrying moisture through its strands and transporting it from damp areas and allowing the rapid spread of the fungi to other areas. Often, when you first discover you have dry rot it is already advanced and considerable and structural damage has already occurred. If you suspect you have a dry rot don’t ignore it because the rapid spread of the attack can quickly affect major structural timbers and become very costly. You may have experienced a mushroom smell or find you are constantly wiping a reddish- brown dust from your furniture. You may also have noticed a fleshy, rust red pancake like fungus growing? If you have, this is the fruit-body, which produces the profuse red spores, which are settling in your property, looking for the right conditions (damp) to spread the attack to other areas. Call Tapco HomeDry immediately. Our qualified and experienced timber infestation and damp proofing surveyor will establish the significance of the attack and determine, as far as is possible, what timbers are affected. He will locate the cause and the source of the attack and we will issue a detailed report on his findings together with our recommendations for carrying out all of the remedial treatment and reinstatement works. Immediate dry rot treatment and restoration work that is required. The cause of the water ingress identified by our surveyor must be rectified immediately and the drying of the area commenced. All the affected timber is removed and carefully disposed of and plaster is removed to beyond the last visible sign of the attack. The area of the attack is then thoroughly cleaned and sterilized with fungicidal masonry preservatives before replacing all of the affected timber with new pre-treated timber prior to specialist replastering. Only the safest chemicals and preservatives are used to treat dry rot and you will be advised by us what precautions need to be taken whilst our work is in progress.

Welcome to Tapco HomeDry. London, Surrey and the Home Counties premier damp proofing, damp control, water damage restoration, dry rot and woodworm Treatment Company. Providing successful guaranteed solutions for damp since 1971 The symptoms and possible dangers of defective cavity wall ties Evidence of horizontal cracking in brickwork, external rendering or building blocks can often be caused by the failure of cavity wall ties. Cavity wall ties are metal restraints that prior to 1978 were manufacture from galvanised steel. These cavity wall tie restraints were installed into the brickwork at the time of construction to tie the two skins of brickwork together. They were expected to last the lifetime of the building but it was found that some cavity wall ties corroded after only 15 or 20 years. When the cavity wall ties corrode they expand to several times their original thickness, which causes the wall to crack at the mortar joints and often result in major damage and sometimes collapse of the wall. The Tapco HomeDry’s method of replacing cavity wall ties and repairing cracked brickwork Tapco HomeDry.com use a double expansion remedial cavity wall tie that is manufactured from corrosion resistant Austenitic 304 grade stainless steel tie bars with Neoprene sleeves. These cavity wall ties have a unique ‘tall-nut’ which when turned with a setting tool, rotates the whole tie bar, forcing the inner leaf sleeve to open and grip the masonry. At a factory set torque level, the end of the ‘tall nut’ shears away and the remaining nut is forced down the bar to expand the sleeve and grip the outer leaf. Cracked masonry is stabilised by bonding stainless steel bars into appropriate bed joints or cut slots using epoxy resin. Tensile loads are redistributed along masonry to minimise further developments of the cracks. The Tapco HomeDry guarantee for cavity wall ties and structural brickwork repairs Cavity Wall tie replacement and structural stitching is covered by our Twenty Year Guarantee. For a single premium our guarantee can be insured by the Guarantee Protection Insurance (GPI).
