WATCH ME A MOVIE Track 4 Project

Where is the story set and what is the time period? Neighbourhood / City / Country Year / Century / Period Slide 3

Who is the protagonist and what is he or she like? Protagonist : the main character of the movie  Not necessarily one person (can be 2-3)  Physical description  Personality  Psychology  Abilities / aptitude Slide 4

What is the conflict that is driving the protagonist to act? Conflict is a turning point in the movie which makes the protagonist change the way s/he acts Describe protagonists character leading to a conflict  Personality  Qualities  Weaknesses/ Strengths Slide 5

Is there a backstory or a subplot? If so, describe one of them. Backstory: the supporting characters’ story Subplot: Other small stories helping the big story move Slide 6

Describe the most important action that the protagonist takes in order to try to solve the conflict. What does the main actor do to fix the problem/conflict (Go back to Slide 5)? Give details of the action, characters in it, the impact- positive or negative. Slide 7

What is the climax or moment of highest tension and how is the conflict resolved? Climax is the most exciting or stressful part in the movie, the part where everything changes  Like the beginning of the end Does the climax impact the story for the best or the worst? Slide 8

What aspects of the protagonist’s character lead to this resolution? Resolution is to solve the conflict/problem Personality, quelities that help solving the problem Slide 9

Describe any outside forces that contribute to the success or failure of the protagonist. Theme, object, character, substory which supports or challenges the protagonist thoroughout the story. Slide 10

What lessons from this film can viewers apply to their own lives? Name three and for each describe the lesson. What kind of life lessons does the movie try to teach you?  Like morals of the story Two major lessons  Find what part of the movie you take the lesson from. Slide 11

Describe how the devices of fiction such as symbol, foreshadowing, flashback, irony affect plot progression, assist in character development or convey meaning. Theme: general background supporting the story – Sacrifice, Brotherhood Symbol: Objects that have an important impact in the story – Diaries Foreshadowing: An event which predicts another one  The writer mentions people sacrificing their blood for others => Iya does the right thing too telling the truth in the court. Flashback: Going back to the past to build connections between events Irony: Saying something but meaning something else that everybody but the character understands Slide 12

Do you find any archetypes in the story such as the hero, the mentor, the trickster, the mother, the father or the child? If so, describe the attributes of characters that make them an archetype. Archetype: A perfect example of something; a commonly recognized image, a type of a person, character or behaviour.  Hero: Iya – telling the truth, becoming friends with others, leaving her pride behind  Mentor: Yasaman – sacrificing her life, trying to teach the best attitudes to her students, doing her best to bond them to each other  Trickster: Hatice – being friendly as first, but later getting jealous and trying to backstep the teacher

How do music, lighting or camera work establish tone or illuminate meaning? Connect music, lighting or camera work to the flow of the story.  Why is that piece of music important in that scene?  «This Is How We Do It»  «Hero»  «One Big Family»
