Analyse the Essay Topic “Boat people” is a term that usually refers to refugees or asylum seekers who escape in boats that are sometimes old and crudely made, and who seek to illegally enter the country of refuge. From a political, social and humanitarian perspective this issue has caused great controversy in Australia (and other countries of refuge), with many people arguing that these boat people should not be given asylum. Do you agree? Give reasons and supporting evidence for your answers.
