4 The Happy Couple “Information Literacy and Research Cycle” List at least 4 points that “cement the relationship between information literacy and the research cycle”

5 Research Cycle Find a diagram of research cycle on the internet Copy and paste onto a word doc Highlight the 1 st three steps Next to each step list the important points of that step.

6 Practise Step 1 ANALYSE THE TOPIC / QUESTION What are the 3 parts of a topic / question? Analyse the following topic/question: “Discuss the ways information technology has changed work and working practices in the past 10 years.”

7 Practise step 2 & 3 Identify the main concepts (using the keywords and limiters) BRAINSTORM ideas for each concept for 2 minutes. Create a concept table or map to ESTABLISH KEYWORDS.

8 STEP 4 - SEARCH STEP 4 of the ‘research cycle’ - SEARCH “Search Smarter, Search Faster” Comments on the reading: Form a group of 4 (move if necessary) List as many points about searching as you can [from your reading / video “Search Smarter, Search Faster”] Share with class

9 “Search Smarter, Search Faster” Identify key concepts Find synonyms for your key concepts Group together in brackets using a boolean = “or” Use a thesaurus or synonym dictionary to find synonyms Search key concepts using a boolean = “and” between brackets
