ENJOYING ALL THAT WE CAN OFFER. FULWOOD ST. PETER’S C.E. PRIMARY SCHOOL Hope you enjoy learning more about our wonderful school? By the School Council and others.

DID YOU KNOW HOW IMPORTANT A PLAY LEADER CAN BE? Here in school we try are very best to include all our family. Sometimes some children find it difficult to join in. As a play leader it is my job to go and encourage them. It’s not about being bossy! It’s about helping a member of our family have some fun and make new friends. At the start of the year I found it difficult to make friends. I wasn’t sure about my classroom and where I could play. The summer holidays had made me forget. (Year2) The first break time was great as the new play leaders from the junior class came and brought some toys. We had skipping ropes, bats and balls and hoops. I soon remembered and started to make friends again. (Year 2)

WOULD YOU LIKE TO BE A PLAY LEADER? Please read our job description and check if you have these qualities. (Year 4)

WOULD YOU LIKE TO BE A PLAY LEADER? In September we were given the opportunity to be play leaders for our younger children. I wasn’t a very confident person and I didn’t like falling out with people. I didn’t think I was the right person for the job because I lacked some confidence, but over the year I have become confident I enjoy my role and love being out with a few of my friends who are also play leaders. So don’t feel you can’t do it because I bet you can. Over the year I have made lots of new friends from different year groups and for me I have become far more confident. I have been involved in ordering new toys sorting out play issues and making children’s play times fun and it is so rewarding. (Year5)

WE ALL TRY TO HAVE THE BEST ATTITUDE TO LEARNING. Here in school we have houses and we all belong to a house. (Matthew, Mark, Luke and John) We get counters for being smartly dressed, walking in corridors, being polite, helping others and lots of other things. (our Prefects give them out and once a term the winning house gets time out of class for a special treat.) Year3 My team won at Easter and we got to go to the hall dress up, have snacks, play with construction, take part in activities that we have chosen before the day. It’s great fun and everyone else in school has to carry on working. Some of my brothers friends are there as well because we belong to the same house so get to play with the big children as well. Year 1

WE ALL TRY TO HAVE THE BEST ATTITUDE TO LEARNING. Having the right attitude is important and we carry this on in class. Each class as the same SEAL attitude to learning chart. Every morning we all start on good, (this is a cloud with a little bit of sunshine), If we have the right attitude we get to move our names in our hot air balloon up to Great. (a cloud with even more sunshine. We then move to Excellent and then finally we hit the sunshine which is ‘outstanding. BUT if we don’t have the right attitude or mess or stop others learning we move down the clouds to poor and then disappointing and this cloud as rain ( the teachers say it’s them crying!) Year 2

WE ALL TRY TO HAVE THE BEST ATTITUDE TO LEARNING. If we get to the sunshine then we take home an outstanding card. On the back the teachers write to our parents and share the god news. I love getting these cards as I get a treat from mummy. My mum likes to share my cards with my grandma and it makes her smile to. Year 4)

WHO WE CAN TURN TO… We are lucky in school we have a worry box in infants and juniors and we can write messages and Mrs. Lister will sort out our worries. Mrs. Lister is our Learning Mentor and she is always there for our problems. We can talk to all the adults in school and they do help us with any worries. Sometimes mum’s and dad’s also come into school to talk to the teachers and Mrs. Lister.

We make our own rules. Every year we vote for two School Council members in our classes. We are very important because we listen to our friends in class and we try to improve the school. Every September every class write their own class rules together and then the School Council write the Code of Conduct. Hope you like our Code of Conduct for this Year? We share this in an assembly and in our classes. (School Council)

THIS YEAR AS SCHOOL COUNCIL WE HAVE… Our jobs so far this year have been… To design our tree house and listened to the views of our class. Reviewed the healthy schools packed lunch code. We’ve judged competitions for our Breakfast and Holiday clubs. We have helped sort out menu’s for new school dinners. Sorted containers and play equipment for break times. We have helped other clubs collecting rubbish. We have held meetings in class and checked our friends are happy. We have helped in Chairman’s Challenge raising awareness for the Salvation Army. Sorted packed lunches so that children from houses sit together to make new friends as well. By Ana and Lachlan
