Job Description  A sports agent works to market an athlete or products that are related to that athlete to promote the athlete's career within his or her given sport. The sports agent tries to create the best contract for his player, which includes the maximum possible salary, the proper benefits and the right care in case of an injury. Some sports they represent may include, football, baseball, basketball, hockey and soccer.

Education TThe colleges or University that has this major is NYU, Southern New Hampshire University, and Northcentral University. It will take about 4 years of college to be a sports agent. You need to major in Law, Public Affairs, and Entertainment Law. In order to get into college you have to get an average of 90 or higher. The courses a sports agent would take is a Speaking and Managing course. And a course in Marketing and Networking.You do need to pass the NFLPA Certification Exam as well.

Salary  It is common for successful sports agents to make well over $500,000 per year. But average agents make under $200,000 Top Athletes (Experienced) Average Athletes (Beginning)

Work Hours  The work hours for a Sports Agent is about 10 hours a day and 7 days a week. Roughly 60 to 70 hours a week. Also holiday work is common too.

Helpful Qualities  The best qualities in sports agents is someone who has a background in marketing, law and communication. They should also be able to persuade someone. For example, if the athlete you are representing is transferring teams the agent has to persuade the team coach that your player is amazing and should be on that team.

Benefits  The benefits of being a sports agent can get you a lot of money. The high salary allows them to afford their own benefits. Sports agents also are very famous too. They are also aloud to go many sporting events such as the Super Bowl and the World Cup and get great seats.

What Kind Of People Would You Help Or Work With?  A Sports agent usually works with professional athletes and other agents. They help the athlete they are representing and make them successful. Sports agents handle paperwork and contracts at a desk and usually work alone.
