Seite 2

Seite 3 Our understanding of land policy

Seite 4 Some key guiding questions Can land be dealt with like other resources or – from an economic perspective – forms of capital?  in many cases, yes. What are the consequences? Does it attract particular meanings, sentiments, interests, acquisition strategies or social relations? Yes, but how to unfold and use this different meanings in an appropriate manner? What is particular to the production and dissemination of knowledge and capacity building about “land”? What knowledge can we use? Beyond the “land grabbing” debate, what is the reason for development policy’s interest in land policy and land management? …

Seite 5 A few important entry points Considerable limitations on the access to land for marginalized groups, particularly small farmers, indigenous people and women; Insufficient implementation of mechanisms for resolving land and resource conflicts; Weakening of autochthonous land tenure institutions with a latent endangerment of communal resources, water and gathering rights and over-exploitation of natural resources; Inadequate access to technical innovations for smallholders due to insufficient collateral backed credit delivery; …
