Thursday 21 th May 2009 HALLAM HOMES GLR Financial Solutions Looking After Your Financial Life TEAM REPORTS All team reports are to be ed to by 12 noon on the Tuesday after the GROUND TEAM TIME U6 Gowrie V/Dragons Red 9.00am U7 Kambah Tugg Buffaloes 9.45am U8 Gordon South Tugg Blue 9.45am U9 Gowrie V/Dragons Red 9.00am U10 Nicholls Gungahlin Bulls Red 10.40am U11 Walker Park Yass 11.30am U12 Wright Park Qbn United Blue 9.50am U13 Freebody Oval Qbn Kangaroos 10.30am U14 Cooma Cooma 11.15am Game Times – Round 4 Sunday 24 th May Please remember these are the times the games kick off and not the time the players should get to the ground. MATCH REPORTS The following are the match reports for Round 3. Under 6’s Played – Valley Dragons Silver - no result available The U6's put in their third best display of the season so far against an opposition that one can only described as 'bigger, faster and stronger' if there is anything that we can take out if the game is that we now know the areas of improvement which we can all learn together in future weeks. The effort was there from all the boys and girls, we just need to work omit the listening and application. Most improved this week were Silas and Patrick. Secretary: Darrel McDonald Phone: Under 7’s Played – Valley Dragons White Win Another great performance from the team. Juwan scored 4 great tries, one laid on by a fantastic offload from Liam V. Paul really stood up against his former team and Xander was busy as usual. Tristan, Liam T and Nick were resolute in defence. Joe continues to impress and Jack is returning to form after his illness. Anthony and Zane scored a couple of tries each and tackled well. The boys are obviously learning from the drills that Billy has designed and are improving all the time.

Under 8's Played – Valley Dragons Red 28-6 Win The boys lined up against the Dragons for the second week running, but this time it was their stronger team. Same mob, same result! This was a much more physical game than the boys had in their first two games, but they took whatever the Dragons could throw at them then gave it back with their strong tackling and hard running. Late in the game the boys were tackling so hard the goal posts fell down! A great lesson for the boys again that when they put into practice what they do at training, they will overcome teams that only rely on 1 or 2 players. It’s a team game and it takes a team effort to win the tough games. A pleasing sign for Scrumpy was that the boys were able to put on a couple of set moves they have practiced at training. This was great to see after too much one out running the week before. Whether doing set moves or general running the boys ran on to the ball, hard and straight, looking for support. The benefits of this, instead of standing still to get the ball, were obvious for the boys and will add another level to their game. Scrumpy will be looking for this to continue to improve each week. Something for the boys to continue to work on though is to listen to the calls when at dummy half. This is crucial to keep the attack flowing and pressure on the opposition. Overall another great game from the boys, using their impressive skill level to overcome some rough tactics. Our team bases the way we play around sportsmanship and if the boys feel as though the other team isn't being sportsmanlike we don't reduce ourselves to their level. The best way to deal with it is to prove to them we are the better team by playing good football! Man of the Match this week was Jacob who did the strong runs we are accustomed to and scored some important tries. Under 9’s Played – Valley Dragons Green – no result available HALLAM HOMES Under 10’s Played – Cooma Win The boys had a great win this week. Unlike other games over the past two seasons when they have dropped off in the second half, they measured up and turned an 18 all half time score into a win. After a great start and a 12-0 nil lead, coach Dredge gave the boys a rev at half time to bring them back to life. The team got the message and went out to score the only try of the second half and more importantly defend doggedly to keep the strong Cooma runners from scoring. Particularly pleasing was the effort to assist each other bringing down Cooma’s main attacking runner, a lesson now learned for when the boys play against other teams with strong runners. The early stages of the first half and most of the second half saw the boys continue their improvement of passing to support and getting the ball wide to our speedy players. Whenever this happened there was always plenty of ground made and with a bit more practice on looking for support when in the clear, instead of trying to beat the cover tacklers yourself, there will be more tries scored. The improvement on getting the ball wider though is a great start. The boys are building a bit of confidence and realizing the importance of teamwork and helping each other out. We now have two wins from three starts and will be looking to keep up the effort at training to keep ourselves near the top of the ladder. It’s early days yet but with the talent we have and improvement that can be made over the rest of the season the boys should be confident of a big year. But they must concentrate the whole game, not just in patches. In a great team effort, Man of the Match was Aydin who did some great tackles in the 2nd half. GLR Financial Solutions Looking After Your Financial Life

Under 11’s Played – Tuggeranong Buffaloes 24-6 Win A good win by the boys against a team that we always have trouble with. Our forwards Kieran, Corey, Nick, Dustin and Tom took the ball forward with purpose. This allowed our halves Sam and Jack to send the ball wide to our backs on a number of times. With room to move and run at the spaces creating good overlapping play. Shai with two tries played well at fullback. Our wingers Callum and Munza held their own. Sam R tackled well and made some impressive runs. Our reserves Bill, Shaun, Eamon, Kelly and Wang Chuck when given a chance played their roll in a good team win. Next week its off to Yass heres hoping for another Rams victory. Regards Neal and Placey Under 12's Played – Valley Dragons Green 18-4 Win It was fantastic this weekend to see you all with your minds focused on the game and talking to each other on the field (about football!!!). While the Dragons’ did have a decent amount of ball time, they were kept from scoring more points with some great defence from our guys. Keep up the good work boys and let’s keep this focus and communication happening in our games for the whole season. We scored 3 tries for the day: Jimmy 1 and Anthony McQ 2. Goals (3 from 3): Jackson 1; Anthony McQ 1; and Liam 1. Under 13’s Played – Valley Dragons Green 42-4 Win Woden and Batemans Bay Under 14’s Played – Queanbeyan United White Win
