Why should you get involved?  Build both technical skills and the ability to collaborate and function as a team.  Enhance education through real-world engineering experiences in a team setting.  Work on-site with industry partners as a multi-disciplinary team focused on a clearly defined and significant project.

TIP Students gain much more than engineering experience A renewed interest in engineering fields –My major is communication, but this internship was in the image processing field. I found this area is my true interest! This fall quarter I chose a lot of classes in regards to image processing and joined a professor's lab. –Helped me focus what I would like to work on in my career someday. Exposed me to subjects and helped me find an interest in engineering. –I have a stronger focus on extra-curricular activities and following through on ideas on not just the programming done for my classes, but of finding innovative ways of accomplishing my day to day tasks through the use of modern software features and new technologies. Influenced course choices –I want to study more specifically to what I want to work for. –In my studies I am now more motivated to work smarter and more efficiently as well to see the meaning how my subject is relevant to the real world.

TIP Students gain much more than engineering experience What it means to work in industry –With hands-on experience in programming in a real world setting, I know now what to expect in a project timeline. –TIP gave me a new perspective on how to industry works and opened my eyes to new career paths. Knowing what kind of work I want to do in the future, it tells me what skills I need to learn now. –The summer made me much more aware of the types of roles I would like to avoid and the type of company culture that is important to me. For that, I am very grateful. –I now realize that I will enjoy working for startup/developing companies more than larger, established corporations. –It gave me the opportunity to see all the different kinds of jobs I can do with my major. Leadership skills –TIP gave great practice with my ability to lead and be lead. I feel like a better engineer now that I have seen an industry and gained experience on the engineering process.

Ensure that you have a resume on file in the Jacobs School Resume Database. Complete the team internship application. Apply for each project via the Jacobs Link.
