Recap Define the term Hazard Define the term Risk Edexcel BTEC Level 2 Diploma in Construction

Five steps to risk assessment Step 1 Identify the hazards Step 2 Decide who might be harmed and how Step 3 Evaluate the risks and decide on precautions Step 4 Record your findings and implement them Step 5 Review your assessment and update if necessary

Risk rating of Hazards The identification of hazards relies on training, knowledge and experience of construction. Hazards have to be classified so you can understand which are the most important. To accomplish this, they can be classified high medium low Part of the risk assessment process asks you to assess the potential harm from the hazard. Risks can be rated by the likelihood that the hazard will cause harm and the severity of that harm were it to occur. The mathematical formula to do this is: Risk = Likelihood x Severity

Risk Matrix likelihood severity high medium low

Assignment Task 5 (P4) using the template below produce a risk assessment for the roof works to the flat roof at Coleg Cambria for each of the following items: Plant, Equipment, Machinery, Materials (P4) Explain how control measures are used in risk assessment procedures.
