Graduates, Dropouts and Cohort Graduation Rate School Year >

> Timeline 2 Collection 1 10/1/15 to 11/13/15 DRC – Attribution window 12/7/15 to 12/16/15

> Grad and Drops - Who Reports Must Report School Districts Charter Schools with grades 7-12 Comprehensive Career and Technical Centers May Report Occupational Career and Technical Centers w/ full- academic students Intermediate Units w/ students not reported elsewhere 3

> Cohort Grad Rate – Overview Formula Graduates = Students who exit secondary education with a regular high school diploma Adjusted Cohort = Students who entered 9th Grade for the first time X years ago, minus those who transferred out plus those who transferred in Graduation Rate = 4 Graduates at End of X Years Adjusted Cohort at End of X Years

> Grad and Drops - What to Report Student Template Report only those who have graduated, dropped out, or transferred to another LEA during the just completed school year Report in the student template as normal, except: Graduation Status Code (field 65) Diploma Type Code (field 91) Expected Post-Graduate Activity (field 66) 5

> Grad and Drops - What to Report Graduates Graduation Status Code = G Diploma Type Code Regular Diploma = 806 GED = 816 Expected Post-Graduate Activity See PIMS Manual Volume 2 Appendix M for valid codes 6

> Grad and Drops - What to Report Graduates Special Rules Summer Graduates Report in SY student template if before October 1, 2015 Special Education Note: If student graduated after 6/30/2015, also submit a SY student template record with Grad Status = S Late Graduates Report in SY student template if after October 1,

> Grad and Drops - What to Report Dropouts Special Rules Reenrollment Students have until October 1, 2015 to reenroll to not be considered a dropout Reenrollment can be at any other LEA that offers a regular high school diploma Summer Dropouts Report that student as a dropout in SY student template 8

> Grad and Drops - What to Report Transfers Special Rules Summer Transfers Report the student as a transfer in SY student template Whereabouts Unknown If your LEA does not know a student enrolled they are not a transfer, but a dropout. Documentation Examples include a request for records from another LEA, or Cognos report Dropouts Reported Elsewhere, etc. 9

> Cohort Grad Rate – Correcting Data Grade 9 Entry Dates If incorrect then fix in first year reported incorrectly Request Override of Closed Submission when appropriate Fix the data in ascending order by year Must fix all incorrect instances to ensure accuracy We only don’t pull the single year where blank. If blank is accurate it must be blank in all years’ templates 10

> Cohort Grad Rate – Correcting Data Unaccounted for Students These are students who did not graduate, transfer, or dropout by 4 th year Due to blank Graduation Status Code in last student template reported for student by LEA Is appropriate for students who carry on to 5 th year of high school To fix put appropriate code in Graduation Status Code in final year submitted Request Override of Closed Submission when appropriate 11

> Cohort Grad Rate – How Data is Used Step 1: Determining Cohort PDE examines Grade 9 Entry Date 4-Yr Cohort are those with G9 Date 4 SY’s ago Ex. SY Yr Cohort has G9 Date in SY Pulls all Student template records with appropriate G9 Entry Date Removes any Student template records where PASA test exists in PIMS for the PAsecureID 12
