Background and Justification Precarious work refers to forms of work characterised by atypical employment contracts, limited or no social benefits and statutory entitlements, high degrees of job insecurity, low job tenure, low wages and high risks ofoccupational injury and disease. From a workers’ point of view, precarious work is related to uncertain, unpredictable and risky employment. Precarious work is rapidly becoming the biggest obstacle to the respect of workers rights in our company. In our company there are about 500 ( 335 outsourcing casual 118 and some others) workers are working as precarious workers where they have no right even to join a union, to bargain collectively with their employer.

continuation Conventions 87 and 98 are ratified by the country so, applied to all workers, but what we are seeing instead is that whole categories of employment are effectively being excluded from the reach of these conventions. Earlier we had discussion with Titas Gas Transmission & Distribution Co. Ltd to ensure decent work for precarious workers and we are successor to achieve the benefit for some precarious worker. Through the campaign our aim will be to protect all precarious workers rights and to stop out sourcing for those who are deprive from their rights of social security and pensions, gratuity, permanent, maternity and family leave, wages, overtime payments, vacation and holidays, and occupational health and safety etc, Women are especially affected by precarious work. Their jobs tend to be more precarious in general, with less security, lower pay, fewer benefits, without maternity benefit and weaker social protection than men.

continuation This project will improve basic union leaders ability to work in the favor of precarious workers rights issues, ensure their rights and organise them to be a member of Union.
