Aims for Reception Help your children reach their potential in areas of learning. More independent and responsible for themselves and their learning. To create a safe and exciting learning environment in which they want to learn.

Targets All children have personalised targets that they are working towards in CLL and PSRN. The children’s ‘speaking & listening’ targets are highlighted on the curriculum news.

Topics My body and my senses. Celebrations – visitors to class. People who help us – visitors to class. My Town – Trip to Bekonscot. Mini-beasts – local area visits. Teddy Bears – Teddy Bears picnic and bear hunt!

Daily Home learning All children- 15mins reading daily. Every child has a Reading Record book to be filled in when they read. ‘Dawn worked really hard trying to sound out her words today.’ DW High Frequency Words practise daily. See ‘Letters and Sounds Information Booklet’ for loads of information on how to help your child with reading and writing at home.

Phonics Jolly Phonics alongside Letters and Sounds. See booklet for detailed information.

Phonics setting After half term we will be setting the children for phonics. Phases 1-3 Games, activities, fun!

Writing Learn through emergent writing and making marks on the page. Please encourage your child to make marks and use pencils, brushes, pens at home.

4 years 5 months – role play area. ‘I went to the doctors.’

4 years 8 months – adult led task ‘I eat lots of pineapple. I drink lots of milk. I go for a walk with my mum. I go to bed all the time.’

4 years 11 months – response to a story. ‘Mrs Armitage is riding her bike.’

Cursive writing Millbrook’s policy is cursive. Name writing. Not capital letters. DAWN Dawn

PE Kit PE lesson every Friday. T-shirt of house colour Shorts/leggings (plimsolls)

Please make sure that everything is named. Only stud ear rings allowed in school but need to be removed for games and PE. No nail polish allowed in school. Hair to be tied up where possible.

Medical The correct forms must be filled in for prescription medication. Prescription medication must come to school in the box with the printed label on. Parents must ensure that all inhalers or epipens in school are in date. Any antibiotics that can be given outside of school hours is recommended. Staff will not be able to administer non-prescription medicines to a pupil. Children are not permitted to have any creams, throat sweets or eye drops on themselves or in their bags. No non-prescribed medicines are allowed in school.

Foundation Stage Christmas Production The Foundation Stage children will be doing a Christmas Production called ‘Easy Cheesy Nativity’ Thursday 8 th Dec 2pm Friday 9 th Dec 10am All children will be taking part.
