Ancient Egypt Mummies Pyramids Cleopatra Pharaohs

Pyramids Most pyramids designed as burial chambers. The first Egyptian pyramid was built around 2650 BC at Saqqara. The largest pyramid in the world is in Giza. Pyramids are all around the world in Africa America and Asia

Pyramids The Egyptians built their pyramids for Pharaohs and Queens. Some believe that Khufu’s pyramid in Giza was built by slaves, but this is not true. The Egyptians believed that when the Pharaoh died, he was the king of the dead. An estimated 20,000 to 30,000 people built the pyramids of Giza over 80 years.

Mummies Most of us usually picture an Egyptian mummy wrapped in bandages and buried deep inside a pyramid. Mummies can be dried out by extreme cold The ancient Egyptians believed that mummifying a person's body after death was essential to ensure a safe passage to the afterlife. MUMMIES ARE FREAKY!

Mummies When the pharaoh died, a great amount of effort was placed into the funeral. In fact, many pharaohs spent a great deal of their life trying to prepare for this occasion. The arrival to the tomb entrance was often crowded with servants, who stocked the pharaoh’s belongings inside the tomb.

Pharaohs Pharaohs are gods and godesses The most famous pharaoh is Tutankhamen He was buried in a hastily prepared tomb in the valley of kings, at Thebes

Pharaohs As 'Lord of the Two Lands' the pharaoh was the ruler of Upper and Lower Egypt. As 'High Priest of Every Temple', the pharaoh represented the gods on Earth. He performed rituals and built temples to honour the gods.
