Presentation 8 Assigned 10/29/15 Due 11/5/15 Resources, Activities, Costs

Homework due for next week *Watch lesson 8 – Resources, Activities, & Costs 10 more interviews by next week

Purpose The purpose of this section (Resource, Activities, and Costs) of the business model canvass is for you to understand: * The four categories of Resources. * The types of activities. * The effect of people upon the culture of a startup * The ways in which intellectual property can be protected * Adding up all the “Metrics that Matter.” Is this a business? Is this worth doing?

8th Presentation Focus: Resources, Activities, & Costs Due next week Your presentation should have the following seven slides. Slide 1: Title Slide Slide 2: Business Model Canvas with any changes marked in red (example given for slide 2) and multi-sided markets shown in different colors - if it applies (example given for this situation) Slide 3: Metrics that Matter (Explain the needed resources for your particular venture) Slide 4: Metrics that Matter (Diagram the finance and operations timeline) Slide 5: Metrics that Matter (Construct a spreadsheet for all the costs from Partners, Resources, and Activities based upon time). Slied6: Changes (Highlight changes made to your business model) Slide 7: What did you learn about your partnerships from talking to more customers and potential partners/suppliers? Hypothesis: Here’s what we Thought Experiments: Here’s what we Did Results:Here’s what we Found Action:Here’s what we are going to do Next Some of the slides are examples of how your slides should appear. The blue font is instructional. Some of the slides shown do not have graphic examples. Follow the instructions on the slides. For some of them, you may need to create visual examples.

“More informational than performance oriented” Slide 1 Talk to at least 10 more customers each Week!

Read BMG to understand each segment Slide 2 Changes to Canvas in Red

Construct a spreadsheet. Include all that apply to your venture: people, hardware (equipment), software, prototypes, financing, etc. The purpose of this slide is to explain: What resources do you need to build this business? How many people? What kind? Etc.? Slide 3 Metrics that Matter

Diagram the finance and operations timeline (link for example below). Yours may appear somewhat differently, depending upon you financing strategy and operational complexity. This is for a high growth, tech- oriented startup. You will have to customize the categories, time periods, and activities to fit with your venture timeline.jpg Slide 4 Metrics that Matter

Construct a spreadsheet for all the costs from Partners, Resources, and Activities based upon time. Slide 5 Metrics that Matter

Did anything change about your Value Proposition, Customers/Users, Channel, Demand Creation, Partners? The purpose of this slide is to explain any changes which may have occurred in the other areas of your business model as a result of learning more about the Resources, Activities, and Costs. Slide 6 Changes
