We are:  A Charity led by a Board of Trustees.  36 years’ experience of providing services to young people under stress / experiencing mental health problems.  Currently work across four Greater Manchester authorities: Manchester, Salford, Trafford and Tameside & Glossop.  2016 sees the launch of our new arts space and creative programme, The Horsfall.  Three service teams: 1. Counselling & Psychotherapy 2. Youth Work 3. Community Mental Health 2

Aims of the service 42 nd Street exists to support young people under stress to achieve their full potential.  Our core aims are to:  Engage with young people under stress;  Provide interventions that promote resilience and recovery;  Ensure that the voice of young people informs and influences service development;  Enable young people to take part in opportunities for personal development and growth;  Improve awareness of the mental health needs of young people and challenge the stigma associated with mental health. 3

 Young people 13 – 25 (11+ in schools)  Targeted services to learning disabled young people, LGBTQ and BME young people.  Referrals are made by young people and a variety of professionals, parents and carers.  Wide range of presenting issues  Depression, anxiety, family relationships, abuse, anger are the most common presenting problems.  Significant number of young people present with self-harm.  Increasing level of complexity of presentation.  Inside Out – LGBT+ & questioning young people – one to one support, groups and projects.  Q42 – creative digital project with LGBTQ+ young people creating an online platform to support young people’s mental health and wellbeing.  Black Young Women’s Counsellor – currently working in Stretford High School  Dedicated support for disabled young people – with a focus on individual support and group work with young people with a learning disability.  Women’s Group - weekly women’s groups.  We Tell You - Black young men’s peer research project (Manchester).  Peer Ambassadors – Campaigning, speaking at conferences and ensuring young people’s voices are heard in strategic decision-making. Last year 42 nd Street…  2,570 Counselling sessions to 292 young people.  4069 One-to-one support sessions to 463 young people.  617 key work sessions to 241 young people.  14 long and short term group work programmes sessions to 328 young people.  26 community-based mental health promotion, arts or issue based group programmes sessions to 603 young people.  1130 helpline calls with young people, parents/carers and professionals.  Training to 20 organisations to 949 participants.  Dedicated schools’ service in 8 Greater Manchester schools

This therefore helps you to open up and feel safe to explore feelings. 13
