CONCEPT OF GREEN BUILDING

OVER VIEW Introduction . Importance of Green Building. Materials Used In Green Constructions. Merits & Demerits . Green Building Concept In INDIA.

GREEN BUILDING When it comes to the term “Green Buildings,” we may just define it as a special kind of building without knowing the details and background behind it. Actually, Green Buildings consist of many different kinds of material and equipment. Their appearances also differ from other normal buildings. “It is the practice of increasing efficiency with which buildings use resources- energy, water and materials-while reducing building impacts on human health and the environment.” ``Green building technology should reach all''

Concept  The `Green Building' concept is gaining importance in various countries, including India. These are buildings that ensure that waste is minimized at every stage during the construction and operation of the building, resulting in low costs, according to experts in the technology.

The techniques associated with the `Green Building' include measures, To prevent erosion of soil. Rainwater harvesting. Use of solar energy. Preparation of landscapes to reduce heat. Reduction in usage of water. Recycling of waste water and use of world class energy efficient practices. A similar concept is natural building, which is usually on a smaller scale and tends to focus on the use of natural materials that are available locally.

How To Make Green Building? A green building is a structure that is environmentally responsible and resource-efficient throughout its life-cycle. OBJECTIVES Expand and complement the classical building design, concerns of economy, utility, durability and comfort.

Goals of green building To design high performance buildings, you need to set concrete goals and follow a sound design process. Along the way you’ll need to optimize for both resource use and human comfort. Usually energy use is the largest environmental impact, and Net Zero Energy is an increasingly popular design goal. With the projected energy demand, thermal energy is not likely to be a solution and renewable energy can only meet the part of energy requirement. CPWD ensured griha compliance in all future govt. buildings. MNRE (Ministry of New and Renewable Energy) in association with TERI (The Energy and Resources Institute) founded ADaRSH (Association for Development and Research of Sustainable Habitats). It is an independent society for the interaction on scientific and administrative issues related to sustainable habitats in India, founded jointly by Government of India with experts in the domain of sustainability of built environment . ADaRSH promotes GRIHA (Green Rating for Integrated Habitat Assessment) as a design and evaluation tool for green buildings and habitats. IGBC formed LEED rating system to promote the concept of green building.

Indian Green Building Council The Indian Green Building Council (IGBC), part of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) was formed in the year 2001. The vision of the council is, "To enable a sustainable built environment for all and facilitate India to be one of the global leaders in the sustainable built environment by 2025". The council offers a wide array of services which include developing new green building rating programmes, certification services and green building training programmes. The council also organises Green Building Congress, its annual flagship event on green buildings With the projected energy demand, thermal energy is not likely to be a solution and renewable energy can only meet the part of energy requirement. CPWD ensured griha compliance in all future govt. buildings. MNRE (Ministry of New and Renewable Energy) in association with TERI (The Energy and Resources Institute) founded ADaRSH (Association for Development and Research of Sustainable Habitats). LEED Certification IGBC has licensed the LEED Green Building Standard from the U.S. Green Building Council and currently is responsible for certifying LEED-New Construction and LEED-Core and Shell buildings in India. There are many energy efficient buildings in India, situated in a variety of climatic zones. One of these is RMZ Millenia Park, Chennai, India's largest LEED gold-rated Core & Shell green building With the projected energy demand, thermal energy is not likely to be a solution and renewable energy can only meet the part of energy requirement. 9 defining indexes of Green Building

1) Green index: The term “Greening” refers to gardening. The purpose of “Greening” is to improve the phenomenon of cement-filling, and change it into an environment which relaxes people. It includes ecology-greening, wall-greening, wall-greening watering, artificial structure greening technique, water-draining greening technique and windproof greening technique. “Greening” could be conducted at the roof, on the streets, on the slopes or on the ground.

2) Daily energy-saving index 4/27/2017 2) Daily energy-saving index Daily energy-saving index is accessed mainly by air conditioner and lighting power consumption It includes building constructions with energy-effeciency, proper rate of window-opening, a sun shading board, glass openings, heat insulation, air density, building structure, material, roof structure and a curtain of wall. The emphasis of evaluation is placed on three dimensions: the building shell, the air conditioning efficiency, and the lighting efficiency.

3) Water resources index Water resources index is the actual water consumption of a building and the general average water consumption rate. It includes the machine of water saving, the plan of water use, rainwater reuse and primary water source. In Green Building design, the use of water-saving applications includes: water-saving faucets, two-stage toilets, water-saving shower devices, and automatic flushing systems. In addition, rain water storage system is the way to use a simple purification process and to recycle water for domestic water. Rainwater can be used for toilet flush, irrigation, pasturage, plants watering and for the water of landscape pond.

4) Biodiversity index 4/27/2017 It includes the community green-net system, earth-saving system, ecology lakes, ecology waters, ecology side slope, ecology palisade design and porous environment

5) Carbon dioxide reduction index 4/27/2017 It includes simple construction modeling, indoor decoration, reasonable structure system, reduced weight of structure and the usage of the wood material.

6) Waste reduction index 4/27/2017 It includes good use of the reused building material, soil balance, dry partitions, bathrooms and the reduction of air pollution.

7) Base water index It includes permeable floor, scene-staying permeable lakes, permeable-staying lot, permeable well, permeable cube and artificial structure staying.

8) Sewage and trash improvement index 4/27/2017 It includes rainwater and sewage diversion, improvement on waste collection field, wetlands, wastewater treatment and kitchen waste compost.

9) Interior index 4/27/2017 It includes indoor pollution control, indoor air purification equipment, green paint and Green Building material.

CONCLUSION: Nowadays, we should make a way to maximize our natural resources and also help our mother earth to get some relief since pollution is everywhere plus the global warming that we are all experiencing. Non-renewable energy is expensive and unsafe but did you know that through green building we can save a lot of energy. Before that, let's define first the meaning of green building (know also as green construction is the practice of creating structures and using processes that are environmentally responsible and resource-efficient throughout a building's life-cycle: from siting to design, construction, operation, maintenance, renovation, and deconstruction. The importance of this is it lessen the consume of energy and the pollution as well because the more we use nonrenewable energy the higher the risk of pollution.
