OBJECTIVES  Develop activities aimed at integrating the principle of equal opportunities between women and men, particularly in the labour market  Encourage the improvement of the socio-economic conditions of women by eliminating all forms of gender discrimination  Support the development of relations among women entrepreneurs of the region by promoting business and training opportunities  Promote the access of women to decision-making positions in the economy by enhancing their business and management abilities and by supporting them in achieving their professional goals  Exercise influence on public opinion through events, campaigns and lobbying to authorities in order to strengthen the legal, social and economic conditions for women

BACKGROUND AFAEMME was launched in 2002 and currently comprises 37 women entrepreneurs associations from 21 Mediterranean countries. Its headquarter is located in Barcelona. AFAEMME serves as platform for international gender and business projects; projects through which its member organisations develop ground-breaking research, set up workshops, conferences and networking events. AFAEMME has a highly qualified staff which includes international gender experts, project managers, business and legal advisors and press consultants. For the optimal success of the projects AFAEMME collaborates with other women entrepreneurs organisations and business institutions.
