S AFETY & S ECURITY : I T ’ S EVERYONE ’ S B USINESS

Today’s presentation Safety & Security in the workplace is a top priority of UCP Central PA – part of UCP’s Strategic Plan A team of UCP employees is revising and refreshing emergency policies and procedures This team is made-up of members from the UCP Management Team, Human Resources, and facilities.

October 2015 – UCP employees participated in an Active Shooter Response training by a local law enforcement at the Staff Celebration Fall/Winter 2015 – Four UCP locations underwent a risk and vulnerability assessment, where we evaluated the physical space and interactions within it to determine what improvements need to be made to create a safer atmosphere for all These recommendations are being implemented and we are developing a plan to evaluate the remaining 30 locations. Timeline

December 2015 – Active Shooter presentation conducted at Staff Development Day for Cumberland and Dauphin Day Programs (Kathy Seiderer, Angie Monteleone, Barry Claypool) This followed the tragic incident in San Bernardino, California January 2016 – Team met with a group of local first responders to discuss UCP as an organization and to gain insight into the response protocols to be expected in Central Pennsylvania in an emergency Timeline

February 2016 – Distribution of Emergency Response Contact cards to all UCP Staff Fostering an environment where staff is able to reach out in a timely way to report an emergency In the event of a life-threatening emergency, the first call should always be to 911. The card lists numbers for poison control, child and adult protective services, and the UCP compliance hotline. Contact numbers for several members of the UCP management team. If it is something that jeopardizes the safety and security of our staff and consumers, each of us has an obligation to contact someone and say something. Timeline

Provide opportunities for staff to be trained and informed Given the size and scope of the UCP Central PA staff, offering a diverse set of learning opportunities through different avenues, such as new hire training, training website, ADP portal, staff meetings, and so forth is critical. Finding ways to dovetail with existing or upcoming scheduled trainings or other meetings Looking ahead: Spring/Summer 2016

Reach out to emergency first responders in local municipalities Alert them of UCP locations within their jurisdiction. It is important that those responders know who we are and where we are located so that they can respond more effectively in a time of crisis. Looking ahead: Spring/Summer 2016

Enhance Emergency Operations Plan and standardize policies. Use templates to standardize the information needed in an emergency response Update policies to reflect revised Safety & Security initiatives – Example: Revised Anti-Violence Policy to include Weapon- Free Workplace language Looking ahead: Spring/Summer 2016

Make enhancements at physical UCP locations to better safety & security for staff Maintenance/Facilities is continuing to evaluate UCP facilities and locations Feedback from UCP staff is welcome on how to better secure our facilities and locations Looking ahead: Spring/Summer 2016

Safety & Security begins with each one of us Staff at any organization are an integral part of the security solution. Given UCP is people-driven and focused, even more so. Report anything that may threaten security. 1: Immediate Supervisor 3: Human Resources 2: Program Director 4: Management Team  Compliance Hotline is also available “If You See Something, Say Something.” Be vigilant. Take notice of surroundings. Report suspicious items, activities, or behaviors. Summary
