The Log and the Exam Teachers may choose between these two options, BUT it is best if decided school- wide. The learning process is the SAME for the Log and the Exam. The DIFFERENCE is in the assessment.

The Log What is the log? The log is a journal which provides evidence of the students’ learning. It enhances students’ awareness of their own thought processes through various tasks. It helps students gain insight into strategies for analyzing literature. It shows students’ increasing involvement in the learning process.

The Log How is the log assessed? The grade for the log is given by the teacher. Teachers will be paid for marking the logs. (Grades are submitted on the form 9540.)

The Log Who chooses the literary texts for the log? Teachers will choose the literary texts based on given criteria from the English Inspectorate. Schools will be required to get approval of the program from the English Inspectorate.

The Log What are the criteria for choosing a literary piece? The Exam The exam will assess lower-order and higher-order thinking skills. The number of and type of literary texts are the same as for the log. The learning process is the same as for the log.
