What is a GUI?  Graphical User Interface  It is the standardized use of menus, palettes, tools and icons so that users can more quickly become accustomed to the software environment and functions.

How do I use the MOVE tool?  Allows you to move a selection or image on a specific layer.  Shortcut: V

MOVE tool options:  Show transform controls: when selected allows you to rotate, scale or distort the image.

MOVE tool options:  Bounding Box - Square or rectangle which appears allowing you to scale your image by grabbing the corner nodes while holding the SHIFT key; rotate the image by hovering outside the box and the bent arrow appears, or distort

What are Palettes?  Most edits made in Photoshop require the use of one or more Palettes.  Photoshop groups like-palettes in tabs so they can be easily found.  An alphabetical listing of palettes can be found under the WINDOW menu.  TAB key to show/hide all palettes.

How do I access the Palettes?  To show a palette, choose the palette name from the Window menu. The palette will display either in its default group and dock or in its last location.

What is the Layers palette?  The Layers palette lists all layers, layer groups, and layer effects in an image. You can use the Layers palette to show and hide layers, create new layers, and work with groups of layers.

What is the Color palette?  The color palette is a quick way that you can create a color in Photoshop CS5. It allows you to quickly control the amount of red, green and blues you want in your selected color.

What is the Swatches palette?  The color swatch palette is a great way to easily use and organize your colors.

What is the History palette?  Gives you the ability to make multiple undos.

How do I Undo one thing?  Will reverse your previous step.  Shortcut: CTRL Z

What if I forget what a tool is?  The TOOL TIP will give you the name of each tool.  Hover your mouse over the tool for 2 seconds.

How do I manage windows?  Every Windows window has 3 buttons in the upper right corner: 1. MINIMIZE: puts the window in the task bar for easy access. 2. MAXIMIZE: toggles show/hide full screen mode. 3. CLOSE: will close a single window or quit the program.
