Principles of Coordination A systems approach to democratic governance A good governance feedback loop Mutual reinforcement A whole that is greater than the sum of its parts

Systems Approach to Democratic Governance USAID’s 2013 Democracy, Human Rights and Governance (DRG) Strategy goes beyond institutions. Two critical outcomes of this strategy are greater citizen inclusion and participation and more accountable institutions and leaders Our approaches should break down stovepipes and encourage innovation and integration across sectors In order for reforms to be possible, we need to empower citizens from the bottom up while enhancing accountability systems

Good Governance Feedback Loop Transparent and Accountable Governance Media reports on government performance Civil society advocates for better policies Government shapes policy decisions based on civil society input
