Introduction Simple Machines can be used to provide a mechanical advantage. They multiply the force or distance that results from our work. This web quest project will provide a research opportunity for our Simple Machines unit. Your task will be for you to research a selected simple machine, and create an informative poster displaying your choice. You will also be required to present your findings to the class.

Task Work individually. Select one of the six simple machines. Identify and define your selected simple machine. Create a poster showing your selected simple machine and include the following: Images How it works List of facts (min. of 3) Present your findings to the class

Process Research Simple Machines using the internet. Start by using the listed resources found on the next slide. Additional web sites of your own may be used. Record notes and other needed information on a separate sheet of paper. Design and create an informative poster of your selected Simple Machine. Present your selected Simple Machine to the class.

Conclusion You will now have an understanding of how Simple Machines work. Class presentations, along with your research and investigation, will allow you to identify, describe, and create a Simple Machines bulletin board for the classroom.

It is also designed to teach students how to effectively research information using the internet. For planning purposes, minute class periods should be expected.
