The most important words related to your topic which you type into a search engine to find the information you want

 Precise, clear, exact  Synonyms (different words that have the same or similar meaning)  Use nouns

 Don’t use ◦ articles (e.g. the, an, a) ◦ conjunctions (but, and), ◦ prepositions (for, to, of, on, etc.) ◦ Verbs (action words)  Use three to eight words

 Put the most important word first ◦ for example, hydroelectric dam not dam hydroelectric  Put phrases or words that should be in exact order inside quotations marks ◦ for example “hydroelectric dam”

 Use Capital Letters to find websites with your search terms in the title ◦ for example Hoover Dam  Put a minus sign (-) in front of words you don’t want ◦ for example: dam -beaver

 If you don’t find helpful websites ◦ Start over with different words. Use those synonyms ◦ Use a different search engine  DuckDuckGo.com
