Lab. 10 Signal transmission with RF module  The system: –Use DSP to conduct processing in this lab. DigitalAnalog a(n)a(n) DigitalAnalog DAC ADC PC DSP RF

 Tx experiments: –Use DSP to generate a sinusoidal signal, and conduct up- conversion and loop back to the receiver. –Use cable for loop back operation. –Use attenuators to weaken the signal (40dB). –DAC/ADC rate: 4/3 Mps –Carrier: 2.31GHz DSP EMIF AnalogDigital DAC ADC FPGA RF

 Practice 1: –Use DSP to generate a sinusoidal signal and transmit it through the RF module. –Loop back the signal to the receiver. –Observe the time-domain signal. –Observe the frequency-domain signal.  Use a SA to record the upconverted signal. DSP EMIF AnalogDigital DAC ADC FPGA RF VSA * Make sure you fill out the 8K array and continuously send/receive the signal.

 Add VSA as a peripheral of the VSA tool –(Right lower corner) Agilent I/O control  Agilent connection expert –(Right clip) Add instrument  LAN –Add IP address of the VSA ( )  Back to the tool –Utility  hardware  configuration –Discover instrument (see if VSA added) –Configuration  Add the VSA –Current analyzer configuration  select the VSA (name given)  To record signal –Input  recording (typing in parameters)  –File  save  save recording (use SDF format) +

 If input signal is a packet type, we can use “trigger” to synchronize. –Input  Trigger  IF Mag / holdoff time –If using the offline mode, use playback trigger.  For demodulation: –MeaSetup  Mea Type  digital demo (“vector” for offline analysis) –MeaSetup  demo property (setting parameters)  Shut down –Control  disconnect

 Practice 2: –Use DSP to generate a sinusoidal signal and transmit it through the RF module. –Use VSA as the receiver and record the signal. –Use the VSA tool to analyze the recorded signal.  Practice 3: –Repeat Practice 1. –This time, use antennas instead of the cable for transmission (use the demo board in the front desk).
