Animals you will find in the rainforest In the rainforest you can find jaguars, red eye frogs, spider monkeys, sloths and poison arrow frogs. Sloths use their long claws to hang onto branches. Ancient sloths could grow to the size of an elephant. They spend most of their time in the trees.

Tribes in the rainforest There are lots of people living in the rainforest. The pygmies live in the rainforests of Africa. Most tribes hunt for their food. There are about 500 tribes in the amazon.

Plants There are lots of different types of plants in the rainforest. Two thirds of the earths plant species are found in tropical rainforests. Many of the ingredients in medicines come from plants from the rainforest.

What countries are rainforests in? Countries that have large areas of rainforest include South America, India, Mexico, Africa and Australia.

Facts An area of a rainforest the size of a football field is being destroyed each second. More than 2,000 different species of butterflies are found in the rainforests of South America. Flying animals of Asian rainforests include frogs, squirrels and snakes. Giant bamboo plants can grow up to 9 inches a day. As many as 30 million species of plants and animals live in tropical rainforests.
