ASSESSMENT WITHOUT LEVELS

Assessing the Children The new way of assessing focuses on what the children can do, what they need to do next and how they are going to achieve this. We will be constantly assessing what the children can do and then teaching will reflect what the children need to learn next.

Assessing the Children The children will be assessed against KPIs- Key Performance Indicators. These are statements of things your children can do. There are KPIs for Maths, Writing, Reading and GPS.

Assessing the Children A Maths KPI for Year 3 is: Count from 0 in multiples of 4, 8, 50 and 100; find 10 or 100 more or less than a given number. In the new year you will be given a sheet for each subject which will have the KPIs listed as well as ideas of how you can help your child at home to achieve them.

Assessing the Children The Key Performance Indicators are separated into year groups for Maths and GPS. For Reading and Writing they are grouped into Year 3/4 and Year 5/6.

Assessing the Children The Children will be assessed and you will be told if your child is: below age-related at age-related above age-related

EazMag The school uses a tracking system called EazMag to track your child’s progress.

Ongoing Assessment The children will have targets linked to the KPIs or steps of what they need to do to reach the KPIs. These will be stuck in books.

Testing the Children The children will then be tested at the end of each Year.

What are we doing for SEND children? What will we do if the children are working below/above the KPIs for their year group? We will find out what your child can do at the beginning of a year and show progress by what they can do at the end. Your child can now do this…

Reporting to Parents At Parents’ Evening you will be told if your child is: below age-related at age-related above age-related You will be shown what your child can do and what they need to learn next.

Reporting to Parents Reports will also let you know how your child is achieving against the KPIs and whether they are: below age-related at age-related above age-related You will also be told what your child can do and what they need to learn next.
