4 In Summary… 2 reading tests 1 arithmetic test
1 reasoning test in mathematics The tests will be marked in schools. These raw scores must by submitted at the end of May. After this date the government will release a scaled score based around a pass score of 100. The test results are used by teachers to inform their judgements when using the interim assessment framework.

5 How your child has been prepared
-Teaching of the New Curriculum since September 2014 -Practise tests and learning test techniques -Homework e.g. common exception word lists -Greater concentration on learning number facts

6 How the tests will be administered
Increased security this year During the month of May No official SATs week Tests spread out and we can be flexible with timings Varying group sizes Support with reading in maths reasoning paper Breaks Access to water

7 Interim Teacher Assessment
These are a set of selected objectives from the curriculum that the government have put together to establish if pupils are.. …working towards …working at …working at a greater depth in maths, reading and writing. Science only has statements relating to working ‘at the expected standard’

8 Health warning! To be assessed at the expected standard, your child will need to have achieved all the statements for ‘working towards’ and ‘working at’ consistently- it is no longer a best fit model.

9 School tracking We have been assessing the children’s attainment and progress using Target Tracker. Target Tracker is our internal assessment system that is also used by The Ridge Junior School. We use it to assess children against all the National Curriculum statements. This is a best fit model aiming for breadth and depth of learning.

10 Reporting to Parents You will receive an annual report which will include Target Tracker assessment for every subject. This will inform you whether your child is ‘beginning’, ‘working within’ or ‘secure’ in the band they are working on. Included in your report there will be an additional sheet informing you of the teacher assessment against the interim assessment framework (this is what is reported to the government). Health Warning! The government have changed the reporting arrangements for Key Stage 1 so it is much more difficult than in the past for a child to be judged as having met the success criteria laid out in the interim assessment framework. As a result this judgement may look different to the school assessment which operates a best fit model.
