Network Components and terms

Hub is a device for connection multiple ethernet devices together and making then act as a single network segment.

Bridges Bridge is a device which filter data traffic at a network. Bridges reduce the amount of traffic on a LAN by dividing it into two segments.

Switches Switch used in a network to connect Ethernet cables from a number of devices together.

On-line  On-line is the condition of being connected to a network of computers or other devices.

 Off-line is the condition of being capable of but currently not connected to a network computer or other devices.
