2 -Network topology is the layout of the connection between the computers. -It is also known as the pattern in which computers are interconnected. -There are several types of topology used in computer network. -They are 1. Bus Topology 2. Ring Topology 3. Star Topology

3 1. In bus topology, a cable called a bus connects the computers. 2. In this topology all the computers are connected to each other through a single cable. 3. The connected computers can receive the message and determine whether it is for them or not 4. This topology is commonly used in LAN. 5. In this topology, the failure of a single computer does not affect the performance of the rest of the network but the failure in bus brings the discontinuity of the network. 6. It is expensive and easy to install because all the components in the network are attached to one single cable.

4 1.In ring topology, the computers and peripheral devices are arranged so that communication links connect the components in a ring. 2.In this topology, any computer can communicate with any other by sending a signal around the ring. 3.Each message goes to each computer and the computer identifies the message. 4.There is no any devices used. 5.The failure in any device brings the failure in the whole network. 6.It expensive and difficult to install.

5 1. In star topology, a device called a switch or hub connects the computers. 2. In this topology all the computers are connected to a single switch or hub. 3. The message goes only to dedicated system 4. In this topology, token system is used to send and receive the message. 5. In this topology, the failure of a single computer does not affect the performance of the rest of the network but the failure in switch or hub brings the discontinuity of the network. 6. It is expensive and easy to install.
