AGE!!!! ● Anytime you talk about someone’s age (tener años), you MUST use the imperfect Yo tenía 16 años cuando recibí mi licencia de conducir. I was 16 when I got my driver’s license.

Tell your partner how old you were when you went on your first vacation (ir de vacaciones)

Tell your partner how old you were when you had your first crush (gustar a una persona)

TELLING TIME!!!! ● Anytime you talk about telling time (Ser + Hora), you must use the imperfect. Time is continuous and never stops. Era la una cuando me desperté. It was one when I woke up. Eran las seis cuando me desperté. It was six when I woke up.

Tell your partner what time it was when you went to bed (acostarse) last night.

Tell your partner what time it was when you wanted (querer) to go to bed.

Emotions!!!! ● Anytime you are talking about emotions/feelings, you must use the imperfect. Emotions don’t have start and end dates. Yo estaba muy feliz con mi progreso en la clase de español. I was (estar - temporary) very happy with my progress in spanish class. Yo me enojaba (enojarse) al descubrir las malas noticias. I got angry when I found out the bad news.
