Jeopardy Elements and Atoms Elements make up the periodic table Map of elements What element? Random Facts Measuring and Metric System Final Jeopardy Click on the flask to get a periodic table

Elements and Atoms 100 Main particles contained in the nucleus of an atom What are neutrons and protons?

Elements and Atoms 200 The subatomic particles not contained in the nucleus of an atom. What are electrons?

Elements and Atoms 300 How Carbon-12 with 6 protons and 6 neutrons is different form Carbon-14. What is Carbon-12 has two less neutrons?

Elements and Atoms 400 A chlorine atom with a charge of -1 has this. What is an extra electron?

Elements and Atoms 500 What are carbon and oxygen? Or What are carbon, hydrogen, Nitrogen, oxygen, phosphorus, and sulfur The most common elements in the human body.

Elements make up the periodic table 100 The atomic number tell you this. What is the number of protons an element has?

Elements make up the periodic table 200 The atomic mass number tell you this about an element. What is the number of neutrons and protons an element has?

Elements make up the periodic table 300 The rows in the periodic table. What are periods?

Elements make up the periodic table 400 The way the elements are arranged on the Periodic Table. What is by atomic number?

Elements make up the periodic table 500 The three sections of elements on the periodic table. What are metals, metalloids, and nonmetals?

Map of elements 100 What elements in group 1 have in common. What is they are all alkali metals; they are very reactive metals; they all form ions.

Map of elements 200 These elements would be most like chlorine. What are halogens?

Map of elements 300 This group of elements almost never react with other elements. What are noble gasses?

Map of elements 400 This group is in the lanthanide series. What are rare earth elements?

Map of elements 500 Semiconductors are made from this type of element. What are metalloids?

What element? 100 These elements are highly reactive but not metals. What are halogens.

What element? 200 These elements are most like chlorine. What are fluorine and bromine? They are both next to chlorine in group 17, and elements in a group tend to share similar properties.

What element? 300 The atomic symbol for sodium which has 11 protons. What is Na?

What element? 400 The symbol for an element with 16 protons. What is S for sulfur?

What element? 500 The symbol for Cobalt which has 27 protons. What is Co?

Random Facts 100 What you get when you mix alkali metals with water. What is an explosion?

Random Facts 200 The force that keeps neutrons and protons in the nucleus. What is the strong force?

Random Facts 300 The type of rock that comes from volcanic activity. What is igneous rock?

Random Facts 400 The strength of Gravitational pull on the moon compared to the Earth. What is one six of Earth’s gravitational pull?

Random Facts 500 The one who wrote and performed “The Elements” song. Who was Tom Lehrer?

Metric system 100 Kg in 2,000 grams. What is 2 Kilograms?

Metric system 200 Units of density (use cm 3 and grams) What is g/ cm 3 ?

Metric system 300 Another name for one millionth of a second. ( sec) What is one microsecond?

Metric system 400 Meters in 5 centimeters. What are.05 meters?

Metric system 500 The name for one billionth of a meter What is a nanometer?

Final Jeopardy Compare and contrast Cesium and Barium on the periodic table.

 Cesium is in group 1 and barium is in group 2.  Both are in period 6.  Barium also loses two electrons to form positive ions. It is slightly less reactive than cesium.  Their atomic numbers are 55 (Cs) and 56 (Ba).  Barium is slightly more dense than cesium.  Barium's atomic size is smaller than cesium's.
