7 HABITS OF HIGHLY EFFECTIVE PEOPLE Erika Fuller CIS144

1. BE PROACTIVE  Our behavior is a function of our decisions, not our conditions.  Make and keep commitments.  Choose a positive response to what we experience and our circumstances.  Acknowledge mistakes, correct and learn from them.

2. BEGIN WITH THE END IN MIND  Develop personal mission statement.  Focus on what you want to be and do.  Develop principles based on fundamental truths, classic truths, or generic common denominators.  Imagine life’s milestones, what accomplishments would you like to celebrate.

3. PUT FIRST THINGS FIRST  Time management is essential.  Classify activities as urgent, not urgent, important, not important.  Delegate effectively.  Build and strengthen interdependent relationships.

4. THINK WIN-WIN  Seek mutual benefit in all human interactions  Character and integrity are the foundation of win/win.  Win/win cannot exist in competitions or contests.

5. SEEK FIRST TO UNDERSTAND – THEN BE UNDERSTOOD  Listen empathetically.  Understand the need before you suggest a solution.

6. SYNERGIZE  The whole is greater than the sum of its parts.  Value differences, build on strengths, compensate for weaknesses.  Create a high degree of trust.  Recognize your own limitations.

7. BALANCED SELF-RENEWAL  Physical – right foods, rest, exercise.  Spiritual – commit to your values.  Mental – read, write, organize, expose yourself to great minds.  Social/Emotional – renew and develop relationships.
