The Legend of King Canute and The Waves

2 Kings 22: 1-2 Josiah becomes King of Judah at the very young age of 8. He grows into a. faithful follower of God. He is the only godly King to rule during the final seven Kings in Judah.

2 Kings 22: 3-11 During a repair mission at the Temple in Jerusalem, the High Priest recovers the lost Book of the Law. He reads it to King Josiah, who responds to learning God’s commands about idolatry by tearing his robes in repentance.

2 Kings 23: 1-3 Like many times in Israel’s past, King Josiah reads the Book of the Law publicly to all the people and engages them in a covenant renewal with God.

2 Kings 23: 4-7 Josiah and his priests focused next on cleansing the Temple of all the idolatry symbols and pagan staff members that had crept into its system over time.

2 Kings 23: 8-14 King Josiah then takes his priests on a systematic and thorough cleansing in Judah of EVERY known place of idol worship, as well as removing priests that had been corrupted by paganism.

2 Kings 23:15 “Even the altar at Bethel, the high place made by Jeroboam son of Nebat, who had caused Israel to sin—even that altar and high place he demolished. He burned the high place and ground it to powder, and burned the Asherah pole also.”

2 Kings 23:24 “Furthermore, Josiah got rid of the mediums and spiritists, the household gods, the idols and all the other detestable things seen in Judah and Jerusalem. This he did to fulfill the requirements of the law…”

2 Kings 23:25 “Neither before nor after Josiah was there a king like him who turned to the L ORD as he did—with all his heart and with all his soul and with all his strength, in accordance with all the Law of Moses.”

2 Kings 23: Chron. 35: 8-19 After his campaign, Josiah calls all the people back to Jerusalem to celebrate the Passover together, remembering that God is their true Savior.
