2. Solomon ruled wisely for years, but then began to break the covenant with God. God told him that the kingdom would not continue if the covenant was not obeyed. Solomon died in 922 BC and his son Rehoboam became king. Rehoboam imposed more taxes and harsh laws. Northern tribes refused to accept Rehoboam as king and broke away and formed their own kingdom.

Assyria attacks and conquers Israel. People of Israel are killed or made slaves. “lost tribes” never again have power.
