The Impending Crisis The coming of the Civil War

What We Already Know Slavery sucked They weren’t paid Forced to work Worked sunrise to sunset Might be beaten Many tried to escape

What We Already Know Life expectancy- less then 40 years Crime to teach a slave to read They weren’t allowed to vote. They weren’t allowed to have family. They would sell them away from each other.

What We Already Know Slavery existed in the South but not the North Sectionalism-North and South were very different North had large cities, New York, Milwaukee South- Rural cities, New Orleans, Atlanta, Charleston. North had Industries South had small businesses

What We Already Know Slavery issue settled by 3/5 compromise. Slaves counted as 60% of a person. Procrastinated on Slavery, They knew something was going to happen. We didn’t have funds to fight a war. We were trying to get away from Britain. We were too weak of a country to solve slavery.
