While they are researching the job they need to take notes that include:   3-5 on the job tasks A description of knowledge and skills A description of work activities Education requirements Salary Using this information, they need to send an email to their advior(s) by Friday that gives a description of the job they chose, why they chose it, what makes them a good fit for the job, and what areas they need to improve in order to be successful. This should be worth the same as a SMART goal email grade!

Warm-Up: Complete the Hook Exercise in your DBQ packet. Be ready to share out about your response!

Monday in World History! Aim  scholars will evaluate the life of female Japanese silk factory workers during the late 19th century. Big Idea  The Industrial Revolution changed the way products were made, where people lived, and how people worked. This era of the advancement of technology and production led to the “development” of many societies all throughout the Western world to begin with. Today, we are going to learn about how the Industrial Revolution impacted Japan about 100 years after it began in England. Homework  Familiarize yourself with Glogster.com!

Let’s review the Industrial Revolution! What was the Industrial Revolution all about? What were the costs and benefits of the Industrial Revolution to society?

Background Essay I will read it aloud. Make sure to follow along with my annotations. Complete the analysis questions independently after we read it together.

Pre-Bucketing Page Let’s pre-bucket together in order to preview what we need to look for when analyzing the documents!

Document Analysis Let’s complete the first document together. You will be working on the rest of the documents with a partner. If you have a question, please reach out to your teacher!

Warm-Up! Make a T-chart in your notebook. Label the left side benefits and the right side costs. Place evidence from the documents we have completed in both sides of the T-chart. Push yourself!

Tuesday in World History! Aim  scholars will find reasons to support their evaluation of the work of female Japanese silk factory workers during the late 19th century. Big Idea  How many hours did you “work” yesterday? How does that compare to the workday of the average American (8 hours)? How does it compare to the workday of the average female Japanese mill worker (13-14 hours)? What can we infer about how working conditions and expectations have changed over time? What about in different parts of the world? Homework  Complete DBQ packet, T-chart with evidence from both documents, and bring headphones!

Mankind Video  Answers in Notebook How did the shift from making products by “man power” to “machine power” change mankind? How is the Industrial Revolution still evident in the world today? Why were coal and steam so essential to the development of societies? Play 4:25 to 10:00 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PwkQAqKl_xk

Document Analysis Complete the documents by annotating and answering the questions. If you have any questions, ask the teacher.

Bucketing! Do the bucketing page by adding documents to the “costs” and “benefits” buckets. Then, identify how you will answer the question: did the costs outweigh the benefits? Place your three reasons in the buckets.

Chicken Foot and Thesis! Complete your thesis statement. Have a teacher check it.

Getting Started on Your Homework Add your background information to your thesis statement. Complete body paragraph one.
