Social Life Basic Etiquette : -Due to the friendly nature of most Americans, they are quick to use first names. -Formal titles (Mr., Ms., Mrs., etc.) are used together with the person's family name. Family Relationship: -Family consist of a mother and father with average of 1-3 children. -Once child becomes a teenager and graduated from high school, he/she leaves home and leads an independent lifestyle. -Regardless of where they are located, will all get together for family occasions.

Time Punctuality: -Most Americans are very punctual. -If there is unexpected delay, it is customary to inform and apologize. Social Matters: -Inappropriate to just show up at someone’s house. -We must call first and ask them whether they are available at particular date and time. Weekends: -Most people work five days a week. -All the non-work related activities are scheduled during weekdays. -Work related discussion are done during weekdays only unless it is important.

Practicing your religion: -The United States is a multicultural society founded on tolerance and mutual respect. -One should not hesitate to practice one’s religion. Alcohol and Smoking: - It is illegal for any person under the age of 21 to purchase, attempt to purchase, or be in possession of alcohol or other intoxicating substances. -Smoking is prohibited within all non-residential, University-owned and -leased buildings and on all university grounds.
