Value Scale - a rectangle that displays all possible values Value - the lightness or darkness of a color.

low value high value Low value refers to the darker shades on the value scale. High value refers to the lighter tints on the value scale.

Composition - The way the principles of art are used to organize the elements of art. Space - The element of art that refers to the emptiness or area between, around, above, below, or within objects. Shapes and forms are defined by the space around and within them Positive Space - Shapes and Forms in 2 dimensional and 3 dimensional art. Negative space - Empty space surrounding shapes and forms. The shape and size of negative spaces effect the interpretation of positive spaces. Negative spaces are also called ground.
