“Do you love me?”

GODS CHARACTER 22 He never sinned, nor ever deceived anyone. 23 He did not retaliate when he was insulted, nor threaten revenge when he suffered. He left his case in the hands of God, who always judges fairly. 24 He personally carried our sins in his body on the cross so that we can be dead to sin and live for what is right. By his wounds you are healed. 1 Peter 2:22-24

DO YOU LOVE ME, GOD?  His character is unfailing love…  He demonstrated his love for us while we were yet sinners, He died for us  This question is settled!  If we believe God raised His son from the dead, why can’t we believe He can turn all things together for our good?

DO YOU STILL LOVE ME, GOD? 29 Peter said to him, “Even if everyone else deserts you, I never will.” 30 Jesus replied, “I tell you the truth, Peter— this very night, before the rooster crows twice, you will deny three times that you even know me.” Mark 14:29-31

DO YOU STILL LOVE ME, GOD? 31 “No!” Peter declared emphatically. “Even if I have to die with you, I will never deny you!” And all the others vowed the same. Mark 14:28-31

JOHN After breakfast Jesus asked Simon Peter, “Simon son of John, do you love me more than these?” “Yes, Lord,” Peter replied, “you know I love you.” “Then feed my lambs,” Jesus told him. 16 Jesus repeated the question: “Simon son of John, do you love me?” “Yes, Lord,” Peter said, “you know I love you.” “Then take care of my sheep,” Jesus said.

JOHN 21… 17 A third time he asked him, “Simon son of John, do you love me?” Peter was hurt that Jesus asked the question a third time. He said, “Lord, you know everything. You know that I love you.” Jesus said, “Then feed my sheep.”

HOW DO WE LOVE JESUS? 15 So when they had finished breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter, “Simon, son of John, do you love Me more than these [others do— with total commitment and devotion]?” He said to Him, “Yes, Lord; You know that I love You [with a deep, personal affection, as for a close friend].” Jesus said to him, “Feed My lambs.” John 21:15 AMP

HOW DO WE LOVE JESUS? 16 Again He said to him a second time, “Simon, son of John, do you love Me [with total commitment and devotion]?” He said to Him, “Yes, Lord; You know that I love You [with a deep, personal affection, as for a close friend].” Jesus said to him, “Shepherd My sheep.”

HOW DO WE LOVE JESUS? 17 He said to him the third time, “Simon, son of John, do you love Me [with a deep, personal affection for Me, as for a close friend]?” Peter was grieved that He asked him the third time,“Do you [really] love Me [with a deep, personal affection, as for a close friend]?” And he said to Him, “Lord, You know everything; You know that I love You [with a deep, personal affection, as for a close friend].” Jesus said to him,“Feed My sheep.

SUMMARY  We ask God, “Do you love me?  God’s character is unfailing love – we don’t have to doubt that because of a trial or circumstance!  God asks us, “Do you love me?”  Do you love me and no other? Give your life to me and serve me  Are you even my friend? Give your life to me and serve me

CHALLENGE  Will you answer His call to serve Him? (Feed my Sheep)? o Pray to surrender your life fully to God o God has given us His Word as a pathway for us to Know His Will o God gave us the Holy Spirit as our helper o God doesn’t want our service, He wants our friendship
