Presentation transcript:

Abraham Lincoln By: Linda Baza Reynolds Elementary School Oceanside Unified School District

My Web Design Expectations To refine internet searches To be able to maximize the use of technology in my classroom To acquire more curriculum resource materials on the internet To be able to create a web page, standards based lesson plan to enhance instruction

Actual Teacher Learning Experiences: Discovered a wealth of internet curriculum resources Provided more practice for Microsoft Office Programs (Excel, Power Pt….) Learned to create a web page, standards based, technology integrated lesson plan to enhance instruction Learned that students are excited about technology & are eager to learn using it

Lesson Implementation Successess Students were very excited & receptive to using technology to learn. Students wanted more access & time to learn using technology. Students did show considerable growth in their knowledge of Abraham Lincoln. Students wanted web addresses of “kid friendly” resources they could access at home.

Lesson Implementation Shortcomings Additional links were added to the web page to add variety. More time was given to instruct students in basic computer skills & navigating. Worksheets were printed ahead of time to decrease waiting time at the printer. Computer Lab access & working in pairs at the beginning was successful.

Introducing Abraham Lincoln Presentation & Discussion

10 Min. Brainstorming About HEROES My Favorite Hero

Viewing Internet Links About Abe 5 Things We Remember After Viewing the Links Students listened to audio tapes & followed along with books about Abe

Scavenger Hunt Using the Internet Venn Diagram Comparing Life in the Past & Present Time-Lines

Culminating Activity An Electronic Presentation About Abraham Lincoln

Abraham Lincoln Pre-Test Abraham Lincoln Post-Test

Lesson Plan Revisions Additional links were added to the web page to add variety. Gave students the opportunity to work with a partner of their choice. More time was given to instruct students in basic computer skills and navigating. Worksheets were printed ahead of time to decrease waiting time at the printer.

Through this lesson process, I learned.. The medium of technology is powerful in delivering information Technology can be integrated with standards based lesson plans The standards based lesson DID improve learning It captivated the attention of all the students which resulted in 100% student achievement

Working on this project was a real learning experience. The students & I had a wonderful time using technology. It was worth it!
