War in the Pacific Island Hopping- U.S. strategy for war in the pacific Japanese had expanded their empire to the pacific islands U.S. Started a policy of Island Hopping- attack one island at a time until they get to Japan General Douglas MacArthur was in charge.

Island Hopping Guadacanal- First land engagement of the pacific. -U.S. will meet Japanese on this island. Iwo Jima- bloodiest pacific battle on Japanese Island -flag raising picture

Last years of the war By 1943 Germany was beginning to lose the war. Winston Churchill turned the efforts of the British army to taking out Italy. By June of 1944 Italy had been taken.
