Famous Designers  Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel (French Designer) ( )  Perhaps the most famous of all French designers; her many contributions include slacks for women, the classic “little black dress,” and suits with boxy, collarless jackets trimmed in braid. The House of Chanel continues today under the direction of Karl Lagerfeld.

Famous Designers  Liz Claiborne (American Designer)  Born in Belgium and raised in New Orleans; designed for Jonathan Logan before beginning her own company; known for dresses, coordinated sportswear, and petite collections; also licenses many accessories.
