2 What is fashion? This term does not just define all the latest or the most popular or the most famous clothes. In reality this social phenomenon involves more importance. It helps us to show who we are and depict our personality in the terms of visual information. In the way we choose clothes we show our attitude to world and other people. It is also some kind of communication. We put some of our personality at everything, how we behave at different situations, what we eat and which style of clothes we choose at shops. All the parts of it build the main stream of fashion.

3 The fashion industry consists of four levels: the production of raw materials, principally fibers and textiles but also leather and fur the production of fashion goods by designers, manufacturers, and others retail sales (розничная реализация) various forms of advertising and promotion These levels consist of many separate but interdependent sectors, each devoted to the goal of satisfying consumer demand for apparel (одежда) under conditions that enable participants in the industry to operate at a profit

4 A fashion has existed since ancient times. At first people wore clothes made from animals skin. Fabrics appeared and people began to sew difficult clothes and created new styles.

5 In Tudor Times, for example, children wore the same style of clothing as their parents. But in the 18 th century children were no longer thought as small grown-ups, but as people with special needs.

6 For example high forehead dated back to the Renaissance. To be stylish, the woman of fashion shaved their hair and eyebrows. But fashion trends are existing not only in clothes but there are hairstyle trends too.

7 Some people are crazy about fashion and some other people don’t worry about their appearance. According to the old Russian proverb «Judge men and things not at first sight».

8 Coco Chanel was a revolutioner in the world of fashion. In the 20 th century magnificent dresses, lace, corset and a big hat were in fashion. She created her famous «a little black dress» and a little hat. The remarkable detail was one big artificial flower, usually it was red.

9 Her rule was to create beautiful, comfortable and available clothes for all women. But at first her new style was partially accepted. She seemed strange and unfashionable for many people. But later she received the respect of the most famous people of Paris. Step by step she became famous all over the world.

17 Mass Media The media plays a significant role when it comes to fashion. For instance, an important part of fashion is fashion journalism. Editorial critique, guidelines, and commentary can be found in on television and in magazines, newspapers, fashion websites, social networks, and fashion blogs.
