Presentation transcript:

Math This Year 7 th Grade Math Pre Algebra Algebra

7 th Grade Math & Pre Algebra The major concepts and skills taught this year: Computation with rational numbers Ratio and proportions Factors and multiples Understand and use measurement involving 2- and 3- dimensional figures Use properties and relationships in geometry Use graphs and data analysis Equations and inequalities Understand linear relations and basic algebraic concepts

Algebra Expressions and rational numbers Matrices Solving multi-step equations and inequalities Relations and functions Linear functions System of equations Polynomials- Operations Polynomials – Factoring Radical Expressions Quadratic Equations Plus all the 7 th grade topics

Grades are divided as follows: Homework = 15% Graded HW = 15% Quizzes/Projects = 30% Tests = 40% I do not give extra credit…but I am always available to help at lunch or Flex time!

Goals: Become more independent in doing homework. Ask questions when a topic is not clear. Discuss different ways to solve problems. Work cooperatively in groups. Be curious!

3 rd Grade Buddies started today!

We appreciate your help at LUNCH! Procedure to go outside Line up in homeroom, exit down the north stairs to the front of the building, follow the sidewalk to the back We eat at the first 3 tables After 20 minutes and cleaning up, students may play We share recess with the 8 th grade Clean-up duty for students Chick-fil-A Mondays Selected students give out the orders Wait until the children are lined up Return the bags to the stairwell
