Is Your Lesson Rigorous and Relevant?  Exploring the Rigor and Relevant Framework  Exploring Questioning

Challenge: Who can name the levels of Bloom in 10 seconds or less? Do you think about Bloom when you plan your activities?

In CCPS the Rigor/Relevance Framework is used to determine the level of rigor of your lesson.

What is the purpose of a rigorous lesson? Differentiates Instruction Increases student achievement Determines the level of questions to ask your students

Rigor/Relevance Framework

Your Task  Use your lesson plan to determine the rigor of your lesson activities and objectives.  How would you change your activities to increase the rigor/relevance?  Develop and Identify the five questions to match your rigorous activities.

Discussion Questions 1. Where is the part you changed or improved? (Knowledge) 2. How is this different from the original? (Comprehension) 3. How will you use this in your classroom? (Application) 4. In what quadrant did you classify the change? (Analysis) 5. What other ways could you increase the rigor in this activity? (Synthesis) 6. Do you agree that the level of rigor in this lesson will increase student learning? Explain? (Evaluation)
