 M University/College Preparation Courses - Designed to prepare students to meet the entrance requirements for both university and college programs (AWQ4 M 0 and TGJ4 M 0)  O Open Level Courses - Appropriate for all students - Usually elective courses (PAL 4O M )  E Workplace Preparation Courses - Appropriate for students entering the workplace only (MEL3E0 and MEL4E0)

 Students must have six grade 12 (U) or (M) level courses to qualify for general university admission.  Students need six grade 11 and 12 courses offered at the open (O), college (C), university/college level (M), or university (U) for diplomas or certificates. College degrees require six grade 12 U or M courses  Marks of 65% or higher are typically required for admission. Each program varies.  Enhanced Program * Grade 12 Requirement – Must select at least one course offered at the enhanced level, example ENG4UE (need 10 for certificate)  Extended French Program * Grade 12 Requirement – Must take FEF4U0 and may take HZT4UX (need 7 for certificate) * Must already be in program to select these course(s)

 Grade 11 and 12 courses that focus on a Sports related career while earning an OSSD  Supports all pathways  University, College, Workplace, Apprenticeship  Bundled Credits  8-10 courses (sports related courses or have Contextualized Learning Activities)  Certificates/Training (AED, First Aid, CPR, WHIMIS, etc…)  Includes experiential learning (job shadow & co-op)

 Earn up to four credits at the work placement while getting hands on instruction from an expert.  Authentic work experience for all students (College, University, Apprenticeship - Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program or OYAP). Credits can be used for college admission.  To select Co-op, choose course code COP4XC and submit a separate application (available in guidance or online) to the co-op teacher.

 Students requiring a program level change (i.e. ENG3 C 0 to ENG4 U 0 or ENG3 U 0 to ENG4 C 0) are advised to make an appointment with their Guidance Counsellor to review prerequisite requirements and also post secondary pathways.

 Research all of their options carefully  Talk to teachers who teach the course  Attend our Course Selection Fair on Friday, February 14th  Talk to students who have taken the course  Get information regarding workload and the type of projects they will do (any presentations?)  Select courses in which likely to experience success  Have a back-up plan  Pay attention to post-secondary program requirements

 Course Selection will be done through (new this year). Link is on LPSS website. Plan now.  SUBMIT during February 15 to February 23 only.

 Students will SUBMIT and PRINT their Course Selection during February  Parents will review courses and sign the form.  Return the signed Course Selection form to the homeroom teacher.

 Changed your mind? Changes may be made anytime before June 1 st (This means for any reason!)  Changes will be permitted based on course availability and students will need to meet with their counsellor to make any changes  "Change of mind" changes will not be done in September

It is recommended that you do not select a course for which you plan to take outside of LPSS.
